Tooling for Investment Casting

Aero Metals started out as a tool and die shop, and we maintain our in-house tool and die capabilities as one of our core competencies. We can develop precision tooling and dies to cast almost any part at net or near-net shape and tolerances within 0.005” per inch. All tooling is custom made at our La Porte, Indiana facility, which helps us ensure the quality and accuracy of our tooling and reduces tooling costs.

Tooling Options to Fit Your Needs

We produce tooling in three basic types: manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic. Each style of tooling has its own advantages and disadvantages. Our team weighs a number of factors, including part geometries and quantity requirements, when determining which type of tooling is best for your particular project.

For parts that require complex internal geometries, we utilize a range of tooling options. Collapsible mechanical cores, loose inserts, soluble wax cores, or preformed ceramic cores are used to ensure that the interior features of your parts match your designs exactly.

If you need highly intricate or complex parts, it may prove beneficial to create tooling for two or more separate pieces that can we can later assemble into the complete part. This method can significantly reduce the time and cost required to cast your parts.

We also provide engineering services that can further save you time and money on your casting project.

Tooling Maintenance

If Aero Metals designed, engineered, and manufactured the tooling for your project, we will maintain that tooling at no additional charge for the life of the part. If the tooling wears out, breaks, or is otherwise damaged, we will repair and maintain it in ideal working condition for as long as you continue to contract with us for part casting.
